All Students should be working on coursework:

Advanced Drawing and Painting:  Complete Calliope sketchbook assignment or Activist Mixed-Media piece.  We will be critiquing both on Wednesday.  I look forward to seeing your work. 

Yearbook:  The supplement and spring sports pages will be due very soon.  Do all you can do with the photos you have.  If you have finished your page review it with another student.  Decide together if this is the best layout for the sports sections.  Should we come up with something else?

Ceramics:   Sketches for the Final Project are due May 8 and all other projects should be completed by then.  If you have an idea you love you can begin the project.

Advanced Ceramics

The final exam consists of  three components:

·         Fabulous final ceramic piece 60%

·         Final formal critique 20%

·         Final reflection 20%

The FABULOUS final exam piece will be a ceramic project  of  your choice that shows the proficiency you have in hand-building...with a twist.  You should use the skills you have acquired to create a more elaborate ceramic version of a previous piece.  The twist is you must  incorporate the influence of an iconic work of art in your piece.

The countdown begins to the last day of school and the last Calliope issue.  Don't miss out on being published in the school literary magazine!

All artwork due May 1 to Mrs. Kaiser.  This will count as a sketchbook assignment.

Advanced Drawing and Painting


Rauschenberg, a relevant Pop-Artist and Abstract Expressionist, gave us some very unique works of art.  You will be creating an Activist Art piece this semester, it would be beneficial to take a closer look at his work. In your sketchbook write about your reaction to one of the pieces below.  What do you think Rauschenberg is trying to say?  Does his work appeal to your aesthetic?  Look carefully at the materials he uses to create his art.  Describe them.  Discover more about the work of art.  When was it created?  Did the artist reveal what the work was about? Please do some additional research to learn as much as you can about the work of art.  We will discuss your findings in class on Friday April 10th.
