4 Step Critique

Now that we are into second semester you should be well-versed in the "4 Steps of Critique" .  Choose one of the paintings below to critique.   Type your critique and print out by the end of the period. Refer to the checklist below the paintings.

Checklist for Formal 4 Step Critique

This is a more simplified version of the critique rubrics.  When you are writing about the painting check off this list to make sure you are including what you need in your critique.

Introduction and Description:                
What do you see in the artwork? Technical Description without value/judgment.

Prominent Elements of Design  (color,value,space,shape,texture,line,form)___ Arrangements of objects in composition__Subject of Painting__
Analyze:
How were the technical elements (elements of design) used to create and convey the mood or idea behind the painting?
Principles of Design mentioned to create mood of painting or type of painting (contrast, emphasis, Balance, Unity, Pattern, Movement, Rhythm, Repetition, Proportion, Variety)__
Interpret:
What do you think about the artwork?  Why do you think the  artist created it?

Calliope!!

One of your sketchbook assignments is to create a drawing for the Spring/Summer edition of Calliope. You can draw anything, but it would be nice if it were related to SPRING or summer; renewal, rebirth, a new start...whatever comes to mind.
