Summer is winding down-that means school is winding up?

Let us all-teachers and students alike- make a "pledge" to be positive, supportive and empathetic. 
To work hard, learn lots and be brave creative individuals.
This school year will go by in a blip!
Use your time wisely-use it to nurture your mind, body and spirit!
Decide to be kind, thoughtful and sincere! 

See you soon in Art class... but first I need to finish my painting  before the summer ends. When winter comes and the Sound is too cold to be on, I will  remember the warm sun on my face, the feeling of floating in the water, the sound of the seagulls and the pleasure and peace that one finds from the beauty of nature.

• April 9th in the last day to bring in items that will be selling for ART NIGHT. 
• 7th and 8th Grade Meeting April 9th 
• 5th and 6th Meeting April 2nd 
• All Art Work for Art Night should be completed by April 9 
• Art Cub Members should sign up for baked sale goods this week

The Basics of One-Point Perspective

The easiest way to start drawing in one-point perspective is practicing the basics.  Today you should leave class with 4 cubes drawn in the correct perspective.  If you finish the 4 cubes then try to draw a letter in one point perspective.  

Your drawing should include:

• One vanishing point in the center of the paper
  
• One horizon line that is parallel to the top and bottom of the paper
  
• 2 cubes drawn above the horizon line-top and bottom are parallel to the horizon line and the sides of the cube are parallel to the sides of the paper.
  
• 2 cubes drawn below the horizon line-top and bottom are parallel to the horizon line and the sides of the cube are parallel to the sides of the paper.
  
  
• 1 cube on the horizon line-you will not see the top and bottom

Everyone should turn in their own work but you can work together to investigate how to draw one-point perspective correctly.
