How do you get better at drawing faces?

Everyone in this class will get better at drawing realistically.  
As long as you put some effort in you will do well.  

 Practice, practice, practice!  

 Observe, observe observe!

Ask yourself questions like: Why doesn't this look right? Does it look natural? Is the spacing correct? Are the proportions correct?  Am I getting better? Or I am getting worse....never!  And if your drawings still don't look as good as the person next to you? It doesn't matter. You need to focus on your own growth.

Complete the following:

• One drawing paper with 4 sets of eyes. One will be your own. Pick 3 out of the four on the handout.  Include eyebrows    Eye Challenge Rubric

• One drawing paper with 3 noses. One will be your won. Pick 2 other faces from life or online. 
  
  
• One drawing paper with 3 lips. One will be your own.  Pick 2 other faces from life or online.

Presidential Portraits Revealed

Artists Kehinde Wiley and Amy Sherald were chosen to paint portraits of President and Mrs. Obama for their formal portraits to be exhibited forever at the National Gallery in Washington D.C.. Not only are the former president and first lady the first African-Americans to be represented in this way, the artists are also African-American. A historic moment.  The portraits are unique in that way they show more personality than those done in the past.
